I mean… some of us have ancestors from there? My late grandpa was even fluent in Czech, or so I’ve been told. (And fwiw, I did take AP European History in high school. So, we do have *some* opportunities to learn.)

im always so surprised when americans bring up czechoslovakia cuz I cant figure out how they know it existed. you sure as hell arent taught european history and you cant have this from geography class cuz then you'd know its 2 separate countries. where does this come from??

everything about Greta's take on Aslan is brilliant to me. the kaleidoscopic creature textures (fur, feathers, scales) call to mind biblically-accurate angels and prophetic beasts. and the juxtaposition of a male lion with an older woman's voice feels totally unearthly, divine.

It's telling that the Dem presidential nominee can say we have "the most lethal fighting force in the world" and that's applauded, or MAGA can smugly rename it "Department of War"--it's only when you say America's kill count as a *critique* that it's a problem

This is an extremely dark comparison but perfectly apt. There are many people dying right now under rubble as we speak, and to save them Israel would merely have to allow equipment to get to the site. There is no point in trying to shame Israel, but where is the rest of the world?

@eudaemaniacal That’s fair. And he fully had a hand in cultivating the culture that allowed it to happen, soooo. Yeah. I just like to believe people can change for the better, and getting killed destroys any chance of that.
