Great job to the Apollo High School team (@ISD742) on their #BARRTraining! It was a powerful couple of days having insightful discussions about addressing trauma and focusing on student success!
Tech High School, a BARR School, has also been busy sending out more than 200 positive postcards to inspire students. Teacher Tony Wojtysiak wrote 41 postcards to send to each student who participated in his I-Time, a 30-minute relationship-building lesson. Go Tigers - @ISD742!
"As we enter uncharted territory, it may be helpful to think about what our students need. Maslow’s Hierarchy can help us think through our priorities as we move through this challenging time in our lives."

I urge you not to take our Stay at Home Order as an opportunity to stockpile more than you need. Our stores will have food and other necessary supplies, and our grocery store workers are keeping things stocked. This is about social distancing and taking precautions to save lives.
❤️this story @ISD742! “After trimester one [of this year], . . . the fail rates were lower for our BARR cohort students than not,” shares Putnam. “Their attendance rates were better. Their discipline rates were lower.

.@arneduncan: Walking into a child's school can be really hard for parents who didn’t have a positive experience with education. Meet people on their own turf — join them for church, meals, turn our schools into places that are welcoming communities for whole families. #BARR19
We want students to persevere and continue learning even when it's uncomfortable.
So educators need to make sure they're modeling this same type of perseverance.
We can't retreat from a new possibility, technology, or strategy because it's uncomfortable.
We have to press on.
