BREAKING 🗞️🚨
President Trump signed Thursday an executive order that lays the groundwork to add alternative assets such as private equity, cryptocurrencies and real estate into 401(k)s.
The executive order directs the U.S. Secretary of Labor to review fiduciary guidance on private market investments in 401(k) and other defined contribution plans that are governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, or ERISA. The federal law sets minimum standards for most retirement plans.

We’re not the biggest name in CPE—but for over 7 years, we’ve been doing our best. Thanks to the folks behind the scenes and our best in class faculty, we keep showing up (with coffee) to make learning a little easier.
Last Tuesday was a double win:
1.The Blue Jays reminded the Yankees that this is our home.
2.Asterid Group Inc turned 7 — that’s 7 years of top-tier CPE, brainy tax talk, and our kick-a** faculty making continuing ed less painful since 2017. 🎉⚾️ @

📢 The One Big Beautiful Bill (#OBBB):
As momentum builds around the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB)—a cornerstone of President Trump’s tax agenda—it's clear that significant changes may be coming.
💬 @ILectureCPAs from @WernerRocca notes:
“Like all tax bills, the Big Beautiful Bill has complexities. The bill solidifies various tax reductions, but it also contains hidden tax increases. It is essential that all tax professionals immediately familiarize themselves with all aspects of this law so that clients can be advised as soon as possible.”

Compared with the IRS’s deficiency notice, which asserted that Beyoncé owed $2,698,316.40 in tax and penalties for tax years 2018 and 2019, the stipulated decision “certainly is a taxpayer-friendly resolution,” Justin Miller of Evercore Wealth Management LLC told Tax Notes.
Pop superstar Beyoncé and the IRS agree that she owes $709.20 in tax and penalties instead of the nearly $2.7 million that the agency had asserted in a deficiency notice, according to a stipulated decision approved by the Tax Court. A 🧵
The decision document in Knowles-Carter v. Commissioner, signed December 11 by Tax Court Judge Maurice B. Foley, states that Beyoncé has a tax deficiency of $591 and is liable for a section 6662(a)penalty of $118.20 for tax year 2018 and that she has no deficiency or penalty liability for tax year 2019.
