@OKCsburnerr@SkyedOKC Normally I’d agree, but against the Spurs specifically, there’s not really any guards that need the special defensive attention he brings, but they do have a lot of great guard defenders, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to offset that with more guard scoring.
@BobFresh_@oughtabefired@KyleNeubeck Okay. What does that have to do with what I said. The point was about Jokic leap frogging other all time greats with fewer accolades and accomplishments
@oughtabefired@KyleNeubeck Zach Lowe, the most respected journalist and thought leader in NBA media, said like two weeks ago that Jokic was on par with Bird and Magic, who are generally considered top 5. This would leapfrog Jokic over guys like Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Hakeem, arguably Wilt and Russell.
@MrNostalgiaYT@ThunderChats He will get the chance to prove himself in the first round. If he’s serviceable on the defensive end he will play. He could very easily have a game or two where he goes 4/6 from 3 and keeps the offense from getting stuck in the mud
@BuelJacey@KlutzGPT Let’s talk teammates: without Shaq, Kobe retires with 2 rings, MAYBE. That 04 squad was a super team with 4 HOFers, favored to win it all, and Kobe bricked them to an embarrassing L. Let’s talk finals meltdowns: which is worse — 18/7/7 on 48% shooting, or 22/3/4 on 38% shooting?
@BuelJacey@KlutzGPT So stats dont matter, head to heads don’t matter, even chips don’t really matter. Like you said, we don’t compare bus drivers and bus riders. It’s about being the best player on a championship winning team. Right? Luckily, we have a way to measure that: Finals MVPs. Who has more?
@BuelJacey@KlutzGPT Okay, so stats don’t matter, and head to head matchups don’t matter. Only championships. So I guess this means Robert Horry is better than Kobe, Lebron, AND MJ? And the top 8 players of all time played for the Celtics in the 50s/60s? An interesting ranking you got going here.
@spurs_four Reminds me of last year when the Cavs were 15-0 and FanDuel or whatever posted a +10000 line for them to go undefeated all season. I have no doubt a thousand people put 5 on it for shits and giggles. Pocketed a free 5 grand with just a simple tweet.
@Logan_c02@I_Am_Angel84@BenHowardOPT@andrew_kalman There is some truth to this. MJ was better at getting to his spots and the rim while Kobe would often fall back on taking tougher shots. This is what made MJ a more efficient and lethal player.
@8_24Mambalytics@SamQuinnCBS My favorite thing in the world is that, despite the objective fact of reality than MJ and Kobe were both subpar three point shooters for their entire 15-20 year careers, you can just say that they would magically be better at them today and it’s just accepted as undeniable truth
@8_24Mambalytics@SamQuinnCBS They would not be playing 40 minutes today. Also the boost in team scoring today is because role players are taking more shots, not the top players. League leading FGA is around the same now as it was 20-30 years ago.
@MattBruenig@Zebbart Arkansan reporting in. Can confirm Hog fandom is extremely culturally prevalent here. Pro sport loyalties are generally thinner and more scattered, but I’d wager every household in the state owns at least 1 Razorback themed item.
