Two years ago, high school artists created this environment almost entirely out of used cardboard and paper and the creatures out of other repurposed used materials. It is still ready for display today. Be thoughtful. Be responsible. Be the change. #earthday#environment#art

1830 days of #trashinapastabag. This image includes all of the trash that I sent directly to local landfills over the past 5 years - about 35 pounds. #environment#bethechange
Clean Up Day. Five volunteers collected several pounds of litter along the hike/bike trail between the softball complex and American Legion Park in Hastings. Some was placed in the recycling. #environment#cleanupday Be the change. All of those seemingly small decisions add up.
This school year, we collected more than 4000 lbs of recyclables, diverting that waste from the landfill. Over the past 5 years, we collected more than 6.5 tons of paper, magazines, catalogs, and other items for #recycling. #environment#reducereuserecycle@sc_bigredwon
1500 days of #trashinapastabag. This image includes all of the trash which I could account for and which went directly to landfills over the past 1500 days - less than 30 lbs worth in 63 bags. Reduce consumption. Reuse and repurpose. Compost. Recycle. Be the change. #environment
Two photos of a nearby park. One reveals the serenity of nature. The other reveals pollution. Take a stand and clean up our neighborhoods and our parks. Advocate and help sustain the health of our natural world. Help prevent other animals from consuming our litter. #environment
A few recent ceramic pieces. The center pierced slab form is made from a buff clay that fires to Cone 5, and the two thrown forms are made from a red earthenware clay that fires to Cone 05. #ceramics#pottery
A subtle touch. I love the moment captured by the sculptor(s) who created this detail from a Roman sarcophagus. I can only imagine the focus and skill needed to accomplish such a task. Fortunately for us, this work has survived the ages and can now be found @nelson_atkins.
Thick condensation
Blinding, covering the grass
Trees, the world outside
Melting on the skin, tongue, heart
Coating the world in white wonder.

Another 28 days of #trashinapastabag. All of those seemingly small decisions to reduce consumption continue to add up. I am on pace to reach my goal of adding less than 5 pounds of trash directly to the landfill this year. Be the change. #reducereuserecycle#breakfreefromplastic
We collected approximately 380 more pounds of recyclables - office paper, magazines, catalogs, and other materials - at our high school, keeping these items out of the landfill for a little while longer. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Compost. Advocate. Be the change. It all helps.
Another 31 days of #trashinapastabag. So far this year, I've filled 8 pasta bags with the waste which I can account for and which I can't reuse, compost, or recycle. Every decision can matter. They all add up. #breakfreefromplastic#reducereuserecycle
Erosion (Wolf Cave, McCormick's Creek State Park, Indiana). Inspired by a trek through McCormick's Creek and by several late 19th century artists, I painted this image of rock that is slowly being eroded by water. I used water mixable oil paints. It measures 16"x20". #oilpainting
