The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that at least five labourers died and twenty others were injured when an under-construction warehouse building collapsed in the Taratala area of Kolkata district in West Bengal on 24th June 2026. Reportedly, 12 to 15 people were feared trapped under the debris. Allegedly, the sanctioned building plan was faulty, resulting in the tragedy: National Human Rights Commission
#WATCH | Keralam: Commotion outside the residence of former Chief Minister and present LoP Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram, as CPI(M) workers attacked a vehicle of ED officials.
The workers are protesting against the central agency over its searches at 10 premises in Keralam, including the residences of Pinarayi Vijayan, in the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) case.
#WATCH | RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra says, "On the recent regulatory measures that we took with regard to the foreign exchange markets, you are all aware, and you may not have witnessed, but we did notice that in the last few weeks of last month, March, there was heightened volatility in the Forex markets. We saw that positions were being built up, leading to arbitrage positions between the non-deliverable forward markets and the deliverable markets. In normal times, these linkages are important for efficient price discovery, and that's why it has been our endeavour to make these markets more liquid. But when there is excessive volatility, when there is excessive building up of positions, it is only you know increasing volatility and perhaps not helping in price efficient price discovery, such kind of measures are taken. These are reactions to the specific market movements. There are not in any sense signalling any structural change. We stand committed long-term to the development, broadening and deepening of these markets to the internationalisation of the rupee. These are not measures which are going to remain there forever..."
