So happy for Rabbi Charlie and his beautiful family, and that all hostages are safe. Make no mistake that the trauma will continue as it always does with little presence around. But we will be there for our Jewish neighbors again as they recover.
We are overjoyed that Rabbi Cytron-Walker and the other congregants are safe. We are also inspired by all the expressions of love from across so many communities. Attacks on houses of worship are a scourge that we will end by banding together.
We are appalled by the hostage situation at Congregation Beth Israel and condemn this attack on a house of worship. We stand in solidarity with the rabbi and congregation. We pray for a peaceful end to this travesty and for the perpetrator to be brought to justice.
Praying for the Jewish community at Beth Israel in Colleyville and beyond, and especially Rabbi Charlie and the congregants in this horrible hostage situation. May God keep them safe and sound, and comfort the families with the news of the safety of their loved ones.
So…2022 is going to be a little different. I get to join the incredible @MorningEdition team as a host with @NPRinskeep@rachelnpr and @AMartinezLA. Talk to you soon on your radio or phone, or however you listen. Excuse my rambling, that happens when in EXCITED!

"You are not respecting Jewish people, you are desecrating that memory. Millions of people were killed, we are not talking about millions of people being killed here."
"We didn't have any Islamic chaplains in the military, and so I really didn't have a template. In the early days, I certainly anticipated that I probably was going to have challenges." https://t.co/9hga49sQF8
Good morning. Today the Supreme Court will hear arguments in FBI v. Fazaga, a case about Muslim surveillance and the government's use of the state secrets defense.
I'll be following the arguments but first a quick thread + story: https://t.co/ejQuxx48jo
A student with Middle Eastern features is asked if he is a “terrorist.” Another is told to go back to Saudi Arabia. A young woman wearing a hijab is told by her principal that prejudice was something she was simply going to have to learn to deal with. https://t.co/0e5f2EmWkb
I'm struck that, as a country and a culture, we don't know the name 'Joe Darby.' He's the whistleblower who exposed the torture and abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib, saying "It violated everything I personally believed in and all I'd been taught about the rules of war."
