@London__Smoke Don't mean to gloat, but literally finishing the crumbs of an oven fresh scone. Little piece of heaven created by my husband who is by far and away the best baker in the house.
We butter them up here.
I hope the planned Gaza protest is real, and I hope it works.
But the problem is bigger than one protest.
Part 1 /
Hamas does not survive only because it has guns. It survives because people are trapped by fear, money, family pressure, and the idea that โhe is still our brother.โ
Look at any eulogy for a fighter. Almost nobody locally questions the word โmartyr,โ because that fighter is usually someoneโs cousin, neighbor, friend, or relative.
That is the hard part.
And outside Gaza, many Western liberals only see the misery angle. Hamas understands this perfectly. It stands in front of civilian suffering, turns itself into the face of that suffering, then receives money, sympathy, and political revival as โthe resistance.โ
That is how the same machine keeps coming back.
I personally knew people who died in this war. When I found out they were tied to armed groups, I walked away. I did not praise them. I did not pretend it was my war.
But how many people can do that publicly?
How many can reject the armed group when the armed group has a familiar face?
And while people online argue about Israel, Hamas, and who scored points, real Palestinians in Gaza are being threatened and humiliated for speaking against Hamas.
Who is protecting them?
If people want Gaza to rise up, then anti-Hamas Palestinians cannot be treated as social media content. They need protection, support, and real political backing.
Otherwise, the protest becomes just another hashtag, and the armed men stay in charge.
@cleanupbritain Is it that we have been so pre-occupied by interior makeovers here that we've forgotten about the importance of maintaining exteriors and public spaces?
Ripped out interiors often fly tipped to make it all worse.
@HWarlow Thank you for one of the most enjoyable X days I've had in a while.
Wishing a good evening and good weekend to you and your wee companion Max.
Just a quick reminder that I've got a one-day exhibition of some of my favourite photos of Glasgow on tomorrow (Saturday 6th June 2026) at the New Glasgow Society space at 1037 Argyle Street in the West End of the city.
