One thing church abuse can do is make you regularly question yourself.

Take a normal leadership situation and you keep questioning your instincts. Second guessing. Wondering if this person is safe or not. Literally gaslighting yourself.

Here’s what I learned:
I don’t know if my discernment got forever leveled or if it leveled up.

So these days I move much slower. And as my therapist often says, “slow is smooth and smooth is fast.”

Checking in with myself and discovering I don’t have to gaslight myself anymore; but trust the light within will guide me forward.
