@SciWithLaura We did a bit of tomato skin last year and it was great-no staining needed and the cells are more circular so you can unpick that ‘plant cells are a rectangle’ misconception
@KJF239 I reference those fairground rides where you stand against a padded backplate and get spun around. Think it’s called the gravitron. Lots of them have been on it so get the idea.
@MarkIraSmith@nr_inthesilence Because requesting scripts back and looking over them as a teacher is hard to do en mass. They are betting on us not checking.
@chatbiology We want our ks3 students to make and view a slide under a microscope, but are a bit sick of onion cells as they do that ks4 too! Has anyone got any good alternatives?
@ragefighthouse @WhistleblowingT Sounds like they did strike for the first day but couldn’t afford two in a pay check. I’ve got no problem with that personally. Not everyone has savings to get through this period.
@calucas16@FollyGirlMaxine @WhistleblowingT Sounds like they did strike for the first day they just couldn’t afford the second as they didn’t qualify for hardship. It’s easy to expect everyone to step up and strike (I’m doing all 4 days) but she has to put her child first, explored options and still can’t afford it.
@chatbiology We don’t teach respiration at ks3 beyond ‘it’s a chemical reaction we use to release energy from food’ to avoid them confusing it with breathing. Gas exchange in plants as part of photosynthesis, gas exchange in lungs during a year 7 heart/lungs topic.
