“When the cares of my heart are many…”
We confess our anxiety-ridden concerns, and embrace our humanness before the Lord.
“…your consolation cheers my soul.”
-Psalm 94:19
As we embrace our humanness, we also embrace our promise: to be comforted by Christ at our very core.
@ronniejmartin Really hoping Wonka is good and 0% like the terrible Johnny Depp/Tim Burton weirdness of a remake they made years ago. Hopefully the origin story is better!
Why when a team makes an error do they cop a large fine, but when the @AFL makes an error they say ‘Oops, sorry…’ and move right along like it’s all good? The integrity of the game is at stake in matters like these. @Adelaide_FC 😢 #doublestandards#AFLSwansCrows#notgoodenough
@thejoshrogers Yep, @Cornesy12 said we should have put the game beyond doubt. I agree, but said in reply to him “That said, aren’t close games and come-from-behind wins one of the things that make AFL (and all sports, really) so exciting? We need to be able to rely on calls though!” #unfair
@FOXFOOTY IT DIDN’T HIT THE POST! The Crows were (likely) home. What a massive fail on the part of fairness. Of course an apology will be issued (or should be, at the very least) and the AFL will just move on… it’s an SA team that’s inconvenienced after all.
@PedroTheFisher1@peter_worn@AFL I agree the ump’s call was wrong, all I’m saying is the system could be tweaked to ensure reliance on a single umpire’s opinion doesn’t cost teams a win when the tech is there but doesn’t get used by the ‘system’. Something’s wrong if such calls can’t be officially questioned.
@PedroTheFisher1@peter_worn@AFL Should the system not require review for such a controversial call / offer the opportunity for a captain’s call to force a review given the flow on effect from an incorrect decision at such a decisive point? Players and commentators thought it was a goal, but no way to appeal.
@PedroTheFisher1@peter_worn@AFL The lack of the decision being sent to a score review for verification when it was so close and in the final minutes shows a system failure though, doesn’t it?
@Cornesy12 You’re absolutely right we should have played better and put the game beyond doubt before the dying minutes. That said, aren’t close games and come-from-behind wins one of the things that make AFL (and all sports, really) so exciting? We need to be able to rely on calls though!
@AFL Since when is incompetence on the part of the umpires and the lack of goal review ‘thrilling’. Unjust, yes. Unfair, yes. Unfortunate, yes. Unacceptable, yes. Thrilling? No. Hard to do given there was a minute left, but the decision should be overturned. #AFLSwansCrows
@thejoshrogers @Adelaide_FC We. Were. Robbed. We should have played better in the first half, but that doesn’t discount the fact we were robbed in the dying minutes. So sick of umpires making bad decisions and getting away with it.
Please explain @AFL. Seems pretty clear when both angles are reviewed and compared that there was no touch of the post. So, what happens next? An apology? For a season lost without review? #unfair
The bravest goal umpire in the world. It cleared the padding. The replay shows daylight between the post and the ball. Snicko didn’t work. If he had reviewed it you could easily make a case the ARC would have called it a goal. Adelaide will believe they should have won #afl
30 years ago, in _Ashamed of the Gospel_, John MacArthur noted that American evangelicalism was obsessed with worldly trivialities—not focused on biblical truth.
At its founding in 2005, @TGC seemed to call for a change in the evangelical trajectory.
Here’s where we are now:
In a world of confusion, how do we pray for our children?
1. Salvation in Christ.
2. Wisdom in thinking.
3. Discernment in living
4. Selflessness in serving.
5. Joy in suffering.
6. Mercy in acting.
7. Kindness in responding.
8. Hope in enduring.
9. Boldness in standing.
