it is mind numblingly stupid that, because becoming a teacher doesn't pay well, the trump administration is currently opting to make it harder to become a teacher in the first place instead of trying to pay teachers more
@Jbooggzz the public education system in this country and the way itโs funded is deeply broken, i wouldnโt expect a president to magically fix it, but i would expect them to not do pointless stuff that makes it worse
@itsseanlundberg families with kids wanting to go into teaching & social work that need to take out some loans for college (canโt afford sticker price or getting full financial aid) wonโt have access to as good of loans as people pursuing some other degrees. Itโs not apocalyptic itโs just dumb
@thealfordplea Iโm not trying to be pedantic, I want to figure this out bc the various news articles I read did not crunch specific numbers either, but is there a source for what the guy in the screenshot said bc I canโt find anything
@TheBigTicketJS schools would love to pay teachers more as it stands, but currently most public schools in America are criminally underfunded. that is what the trump admin would address if it cared about teachers wages at all
@thealfordplea From what Iโve read the โfewโ programs in question are related to early childhood education. At least to me, preschool and elementary school teachers are just as important as other teachers
