Employers NI Contributions, 📈 Increased.
Whisky duty, 🔺️ Up.
Agricultural Relief ❌️ Gone.
Investment Allowances in the North Sea, 🛑 Ending.
That noise you hear, are businesses in the North East of Scotland shuddering. A truly terrible budget for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Yesterday's PMQ⤵️
🚨 How does the PM reconcile his plan for economic growth with this week's @OEUK_ report of his #oilandgas windfall tax plans leading to:
❌North Sea investment falling from £14.1bn to £3.2bn,
❌a loss of 35,000 jobs and
❌a £12bn reduction in tax revenues?
⤵️Pt of my contribution to the GB Energy Bill 2nd reading.
My #GordonAndBuchan constituents have most to lose if the transition from #oilandgas isnt properly managed.
🚨Those currently working in the o&g industry need assurances on job prospects, so I had 3 q's for the minster:
Read this thread. Ross has summed the current situation up perfectly. This idea of “the establishment” is perpetuated by certain MSPs who seem to think their attacks are valid but call out others who raise their concerns as engaging in “blue on blue” without any sense of irony.
🧵THREAD: It’s time to address the reality of what is happening in the @ScotsTories leadership contest. Let’s break down the issues and expose the games that are sadly being played. 👇🏻
These secret meetings prove that candidates colluded to trash the party, fuel grievance and deceive party members.
The Gang of Four have done huge damage to our party, turning what should have been an engaging leadership contest into a drama that has descended into a pantomime.
Having attended a couple of recent events locally with @RussellFindlay1 I am convinced he is the right person to lead the Scottish Conservative and Unionists into the future. He has a vision and clear Conservative policies that set him apart from the other contenders.
No candidate is entitled to the party leadership, regardless of what they might think.
The leadership of our party should be earned and our hardworking grassroots members have the right to be heard, to have their say and make their choice.
We are a proud democratic party.
Can “senior party figures” please stop these vitriolic briefings to the press about leadership candidates.
It helps absolutely nobody and only damages the party.
We need to have a civil debate about the future of the party in Scotland and who is best to lead it.
That’s all.
“We've got the National insurance cut, the second ... in two budgets"
Scottish Conservatives’ @Harriet4Gor_Buc says it is “not a humiliating day for the Scottish Conservatives when you take the budget as a whole”

When the First Minister visited Aberdeen he wasn't there to save the jobs of the thousands of oil and gas workers.
No, he was there to save one job and one job only. That of Stephen Flynn.
🎉 @WheelerJohn_ has been selected as the @ScotTories candidate for Aberdeen South!
💪Our city needs an MP that will fight for our fair share and support our oil & gas workers. Only John and the @ScotTories can deliver that.
On BBC Debate Night, @StephenFlynnSNP was asked a question he didn't like. He turned on the audience member, outing them as a conservative activist, inviting online harassment of the young man in question by nationalist keyboard warriors.
Enough of these bullyboy tactics. 👇
Socialists say “publicly owned”. What they mean is “State controlled”.
Socialists say “Government aid”. What they mean is “taxpayers' aid”.
Socialists say “social justice”. What they mean is “selective justice”.
Socialists say “equality”. What they mean is “levelling down”.
Why do they twist the truth like this? Because they dare not spell out the Socialist reality.
Countries are not rich in proportion to their natural resources; if that were so Russia would be the richest country in the world; she has everything, oil, gas, diamonds, platinum, gold, silver, the industrial metals, timber, and a rich soil.
Countries are rich whose governments have policies which encourage the essential creativity of man who in order to succeed must work with others to produce goods and services which people choose to buy.
So Japan, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and so on have no natural resources but are now among the most prosperous countries in the world.
The market is not a new-fangled invention of some academic economists, it is the oldest trading organisation known to man.
Only a flourishing free enterprise economy can generate the higher living standards at every level and the jobs which people need if we can honestly say that they are enjoying the benefits of freedom.
One week you’re facing a No Confidence vote for defunding one of the largest social mobility programmes in your Ward, in which only 3 of your colleagues speak up, the next you’re Co-Leader presumptive with unanimous support

Y'know, it's funny. There was no such front page in 2007 when Brown became PM without a vote (no GE til 2010) or in 2014 when @NicolaSturgeon became FM without a vote (no Scottish elex til 2016)
It's **almost** as if their pearl clutching sanctimony is actually partisanship...
