“You always want to know as a mother, are my kids going to be okay? My kids are gonna be fine but it doesn't mean that I'm not gonna miss every chance that I could have had with them.”
'Bowelbabe' Deborah James speaks to #BBCBreakfast as she moves to hospice at home care 💛
Dissociation is about survival.
Accordingly it is to be respected until other aspects of the self are safe enough to come out and say hello.
Focusing too much on #dissociation before the whole self has been attended to risks total system collapse.

Eating disorders sufferers worried about calories on menus, worry no more. A man on Facebook has just explained to me we can simply not look. Thank God he is here.
When survivors are angry with you, or skeptical about your care, or sometimes wanting your help and sometimes pushing you away, it’s always because there is a history you don’t know about.
The history of women being disbelieved, neglected + slandered is one of them #TraumaNotPD

Update: urgent referral in November, assessed in April, diagnosed with atypical anorexia & waiting for treatment. 10 weeks have passed & I have been left alone to keep afloat minus a few GP visits for bloods & weigh-ins. Awareness is great but useless without action #mentalhealth
"When we are in mental health crisis, it is the least appropriate time to expect us to be able to 'take responsibility'. Our ability to think clearly is likely to be impaired. It is the time when we are least likely to be able to see a route forward, without support to do so."
Reading an article from 1999 that begins a) diets don't work, b) weight fluctuation is associated with increased mortality, c) chronic dieting is an ED risk factor
22 years later we're doing the same research to prove the same points. Exasperated beyond actual belief.
Last night my 16 year old son was attacked by two older men who punched him and pushed him off his moped as he came home from the gym (his mental health lifeline) he’s been clinging on through this lockdown shit, as have so many kids, it’s time for social change!
Self harm, mental health struggles, eating disorders are all things that can make the warmer weather more challenging. It’s so vitally important that we are aware of how the changes in the world can impact people differently.

'The fact remains that eating disorders are deadly illnesses suffered by people of any gender, any age and any culture. They have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness' | @HopeVirgo https://t.co/XscRey0abn
Eating Disorder treatment is like playing a game of snakes and ladders, in order to go up the ladder you have to be 'sick enough', with a 'BMI low enough', and even then you may well fall way back down the ladder again to the very bottom. This must change! #eatingdisorders#BMI
We admire the schools that use their funding to have our practitioners go in & support the children who need it, all children benefit from positive relationships with safe adults. What a difference this makes to children’s lives🌈💚
