On Saturday, @Pontifex Leo XIV closed a two-day consistory, the second such gathering of cardinals in his not-quite-fourteen-month pontificate. The meeting was not very exciting, which @Crux's ed.-in-chief @CharlesinRome says was the point.

The extraordinary consistory of cardinals Pope Leo XIV has called for June 26–27 is shaping up to be an exercise in “Leonine” synodality – real collegial collaboration on issues affecting the life of the Church – but so far, the pontiff hasn’t given the cardinals a real-world practical problem to address.
