Today at Nakasero, I met Mr. Aliko Dangote and we discussed the proposed East African regional refinery.
I informed him that from the very beginning, we have always opposed the export of raw materials without value addition. That is why Uganda delayed oil production because we insisted on first having a refinery. Without refining our oil, it would not make economic or strategic sense to simply export crude oil while others benefit from the finished products.
I, therefore, welcomed the idea of a bigger regional refinery because our objective is African integration and shared prosperity. We cannot continue operating as fragmented and weak markets. If East Africa works together, such projects become more viable and beneficial to our people.
Uganda is ready to support the regional refinery initiative while also continuing with the development of our own refinery in Hoima.

I join my comrades, the Heads of State of IGAD to express our deep concerns on the current situation in Sudan and immediately call for a cessation of hostilities between the two sides.
I condemn the misuse of force in a situation that undermines all progress made through dialogue over the last many months. We cannot keep papering over mistakes of unprincipled politics year after year.
An unconditional and immediate cessation of hostilities to stop the tragedy and mockery of Africa is of utmost importance.
The PDM fund that I am currently talking about, is targeted at small players in the agriculture sector. This so that we get as many people as possible to be players and not spectators in the money economy.
On corruption, I encourage more people to come forward with evidence against the wrongdoers so that we crush this disease.
I will send the State house Anti-Corruption team to find out about this.
The purpose of my trip to the West Nile sub-region starting today, is to once again stoke the NRM efforts of wealth creation, by engaging with the people.
I visited four farmers who have followed my advice of adopting modern commercial and calculated farming that has now propelled them into the money economy.
These farmers are proof that Museveni is not Enzo (lying) about the possibilities of creating wealth through commercial farming.
Tomorrow, i will interact with the wananchi at a public gathering to hear what they have to say on the Parish Development Model.
