I disagree, simply because kpop always copied and took inspiration from the American industry and especially black people. The only thing that changed really is how much English they now speak. It has always just been “normal” music in Korean.
🐻❄ while working on this album, i don't think i ever had any worries whether it sounded 'too kpop', that's why i also hoped that you'd feel the same. honestly, i've been working on kpop for 12 years now, 15 if you include my trainee years. whatever i put out, it's kpop. from my perspective, it's not the sound that's important. whatever i release, i believe it'll be seen and accepted as kpop, so i took on it with that attitude
