@MadisonMessiah That is not the explanation as given by Mark Butterworth. And regardless of that, in no way does Goff “throw” the ball. The impact of Young’s hit does.
@MadisonMessiah@davesportsgod To the NFL’s wording that “throwing the ball” part is obsolete. The determining factor was that Goff had started his throwing motion at the point contact was established and the ball began to be dislodged - this principle is satisfied in exactly the same way on both plays.
@MadisonMessiah@davesportsgod According to the NFL’s explanation last week the arm coming forward has nothing to do with it - the QBs “throwing motion” is deemed to start the moment the QB draws their hand back with the ball. Surely the same caveat should apply here and deem this an incomplete pass?
@tjmcaulay Irony here is this clip actually satisfies the rule you posted earlier. The hit causes a marked turn of Oswelier’s body after he started his throwing motion which directly changes the ball direction. None of those things are evident in the Goff play. It was a totally blown call.
@tjmcaulay Would seem a gross mis-categorisation to count this as scenario B. There is no turn in body and no change of direction of the ball. Scenario A fits much better surely. He hasn’t begun to attempt to throw the ball before contact is made by Chase Young.
@Jeff_Nowak Big difference being that Osweiler has clearly reached the end of his wind up and has control of the ball when he starts the forward motion. Goff had neither, and it was Young’s hit from behind that caused the arm/ball to deviate. Goff had no control after contact. Shocking call.
@tjmcaulay Young’s hit is the only thing that causes any kind of forward motion of the hand. Another ludicrous call against the Saints that the NFL and its cronies will rally around.
@tjmcaulay Goff doesn’t begin the forward part of the throwing motion until after Chase Young has contacted him. Therefore the rule quoted directly states this should have been called fumble. Absolutely shocking call from the officials to overturn this after watching the replay.
@nick_underhill Goff didn’t even start moving his arm forwards let alone throw the ball forwards - absolutely dreadful overturn of the on field call. Never seen anything like it.
@cpfc_jw19@ChrisEubankJr Interesting interpretation of that first fight where the skeleton of Eubank at 160 still managed to win virtually every round against a fully hydrated Benn!
@czechfooty Interesting work. I’d say the prevailing point of frustration though (and something this study backs up) is that both Mexico and Korea have it far easier and the FACR were seemingly given zero opportunity by FIFA to try and level that playing field.
@Score90_ A lot of people in these comments have evidently never seen Krejčí play. Will prove he’s the best defender in Group A over these next few weeks.
@sk_football1907 Different coach, captain, formation and set up now. No one should be judging the Czechs on their qualifying campaign. Fact is in the playoffs they came out victorious against two sides that are arguably stronger than all the teams in Group A.
