@NatSciChannel@dimasaurus_art Yeah, exactly. It’s mentioned in the same paper that mysteriously mentions El Weirdo and it’s a sister taxon from the same formation. If it weren’t for Lund Et Al 2014 though we might not know it exists, and there aren’t any photos of the fossil online. Just the paper.
@Doshaguma3000HQ The idea was since (at the time) Iguanodon was found in both Europe and North America as well as large polacanthine nodosaurs, then there may be large dromaeosaurs too. The name Utahraptor was just chosen for familiarity.
22 years later that choice was vindicated with Vectiraptor
Doug Henderson is probably the only modern paleoartist I can think of that combines atmospheric pieces and accurate animals in a similar way that vintage paleoart does
