Dumb? Well, that's a matter of opinion.
Gay? Admittedly, it's been about 20 years since I read the books, but I don't recall Harry and Ron sneaking off behind the Quidditch feild for a romantic interlude.
Evil? I suppose, if you're the sort of fundamentalist Christian who thinks a book containing witchcraft is a gateway drug to sacrificing goats in the backyard.
But you know what? Fine. I'll concede all three. Harry Potter is dumb, gay, AND evil. A literary trifecta of depravity. Western civilization may never recover.
I don't care.
My husband and I have been having a blast making up stories together. In fact, I don't think we've had this much fun doing something together since we were dating. We've laughed, argued over characters, invented ridiculous situations, and generally behaved like two people who are enjoying being married to each other. A shocking development, I realize.
And not to toot my own horn, but some of the things I've written have gotten a pretty enthusiastic response.
Apparently other people are enjoying themselves too. The situation is rapidly getting out of hand. At this rate, someone might experience ACTUAL HAPPINESS.
I'm terribly sorry that we're having fun with something you don't approve of. I realize this must be an enormous burden for you, knowing that somewhere out there, adults are enjoying fictional stories without first obtaining your permission.
Hopefully, with time, counseling, and perhaps a nice cup of coffee, you'll find the strength to carry on.
