— How do you make up after a fight?

S: Dai usually reaches out to me first. He'll start saying it's a waste of time, like, "We're not going to break up, so dragging this out is just a waste of time, right?" Then we let a little time pass, and after that he comes back being silly and starts talking to me again, and I end up laughing. Most of our fights are really just about how something was said or other small things, so I end up thinking, "Yeah, it really is a waste of time", and we make up pretty quickly.

D: Shun is the type who needs to sort through his feelings on his own first. I didn't understand that at first, so I thought I just needed to get closer to him, but that actually made things even worse. I want to resolve things quickly, and he needs time. I think we're beginning to find a middle ground between those approaches. So what I do is to act silly and make him laugh.

S: In most cases, yeah.

D: But if it's a fight about something truly serious, then you shouldn't just joke it away.
