I have stayed silent about this, but I kind of can’t any longer. I do not need your political views. Trust me and they will be deleted or blocked or whatever X does. . You have no idea what my political stance is.

I don’t care. I work in an industry that sometimes keeps me up 48 to 72 hours depending on the situation. And the information I am relaying to the public is coming straight from the people that issue the warnings and watches and outlooks. All of us in the private sector are doing that.

If you’ve ever been around me, you know notifications are turned off on my phone unless it’s from the national weather service because that stuff I have to relay to the public.

The forecasts, models, daily upper air measurements, the watches, the warnings come from them y’all. 

One of our highest rated experts, who has a PhD from Florida State (if you don’t know about tropical tidbits I can’t help you), his wife was let go today who essential to the tsunami warning center in the Pacific. I want to explain how important that is. Remember the tsunami that hit in 2004? We were struggling at that point to even get other countries to listen to us and now you wanna take us out of the equation even when it comes to ourselves?  America actually did the same with the Galveston hurricane of 1900. They ignored warnings from Cuba because of politics. Still the most deadly disaster in American history. 

I think about what meteorologists were struggling with during the 1974 tornado outbreak too. People do not understand how far we have come. And there is absolutely no reason to turn that back now. 
Earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes, and severe thunderstorms and flooding are all going to happen and they don’t give a dang about your politics.

We have some of the top scientists in the world working in weather to change what we do every day to relay that message. Thank you NOAA, NHC, SPC, WPC, NWS AND SO MANY OTHERS.

The national weather service offices were already understaffed. Many places were. And those are the ones you are going to depend on that actually issue the warnings that we relay to you.
