Check out our newest article about the incredible research done in the Chic-Choc mountain lakes with @louisechavarie , @leah_strople and Catherine Lambert in the lead! ⛰️🐟

I'm so proud of @StephABlain new meta-analysis I supervised. Her research is truly impressive, I firmly believe it will shed light on aspects related to the repeatability of Coregonus and Salvelinus divergence. It's a must-read! @C_Adams1758@DolphSchluter https://t.co/CojkM915Zm
We are working on a paper about winter ecology and we are flipping through our pictures from this winter field work... and we just found that beauty. We miss these fish! @leah_strople@louisechavarie photo from @Matt_JH_Gilbert
This new Canadian Mountain podcast arrive just in time to celebrate the end of our field season! If you are interested to hear more about the aquatic ecosystems in the Chic-Chocs, listen to this! @CanMountainNet

We are are so excited by this Acoustic Zooplankton Fish Profiler we just installed this year in Lake Thibault, to monitor zooplankton in the water column through the year. Combined with our fish telemetry study, we are looking forward to next year results! @CanMountainNet
Soon, we are going to do our last summer field work of the project! Our summer program will include telemetry and our 6 lakes monitoring effort. Stay tuned for some fun days to come! @CanMountainNet
During our winter field work, we look at the entire alpine lake ecosystem, not just fish. We assess the physical aspect of the lake (e.g., temperature, nutrients), phytoplankton, zooplankton, and macro-invertebrates. @ThomasJourd@leah_strople@louisechavarie@lpcollin1
We are half way into our winter sampling season! Last year, we had challenges to catch fish during the winter.......so we came we new ideas to catch fish, especially the small ones....we used traps and it worked! @leah_strople@ThomasJourd@louisechavarie@Matt_JH_Gilbert
Thanuri won the GRIL video contest with her video she made about her summer field work in the Chic-Chocs "Summer life of a limnologist: what happens before, in between and after". Congratulation @ThanuriKasthuri! https://t.co/XC8bMrVbqd
Thanuri a gagné le concours vidéo du GRIL en présentant une vidéo sur son travail de terrain"Summer life of a limnologist : what happens before, in between and after". Félicitations @ThanuriKasthuri! https://t.co/XC8bMrVbqd
Before we all disappear, we are looking for a #postdoc or #PhD to work with ecological statistics and eDNA in alpine lakes! 🐟🫧 Starting 2023 (with flexibility) in collab with @guiblanchet3 and @louisechavarie. International candidates welcome to apply! DM @guiblanchet3!
This summer, our team hiked/sampled 26 lakes (yes, with all our material!) to collect eDNA. This tool will help us to quantify the diversity that exist in the Chic-Chocs alpines lakes. The diversity of these lakes is unknown as they are often hard to reach!
We are hiring a PhD position: If you are interested in alpine lakes, winter/summer ecology, and salmonids (lake trout, brook trout and Arctic charr!!!) please check it out! Norway provides the best conditions (e.g., salary) I know for their PhD students!

This summer, we sampled 26 lakes. Some lakes were accessible by car, some lakes were accessible by six wheelers, and some lakes were accessible only by foot (hiking and bush walking)! Nothing stopped our amazing team: we used a mix of packrafts, an inflatable zodiac, and a boat!
