even narratively, both gwen & katsuki are specifically targeted by the villain for their close relationship with peter & izuku. it’s not crazy to make this connection at all.

i’m thinking about this again & i think it’s interesting that when you make this observation, some ppl will be like “it’s actually a reference to batman or xyz” as if izuku’s character design doesn’t have the most similarities to spider-man (blackwhip & danger sense, notably).

horikoshi has never come outright and said “this volume cover is a reference to x” so it’s all up to interpretation, but it’s just funny that you’ll get called delusional for pointing out obvious similarities between the two.
