@maevecity I get around this by wearing my glasses really low on my face so I can look over them and pretend to be making eye contact with people so they think I'm normal but really all I see is a near-inscrutable blurry mess 😇
I think the closest I've ever come to achieving a truly sympathetic understanding of the transgender male psyche was watching brian o'connor do his thing in the hit 2003 movie 2 fast 2 furious
@inkysputter@paramitanoia have you considered that having a "broad array of friends and family" to begin with means you're in a much better spot than a fuckload of mentally ill people who have no support network whatsoever?
if you're trans and lie on the upcoming census and tell them you're not, I will genuinely think of you as less of a person and a part of me will personally resent you if the msac ruling to add gender-affirming surgery to Medicare turns out unfavourably
@PanzerKat@punishedgarage I can not pretend to understand the minds of men 😔
but one imagines that upon seeing said feminine guy, they have already won the imaginary pissing contest in their head and so do not feel the need to puff up their chest
@KissEmrys first time trying coffee 😯
(between you and me, if you end up hating the traditional full cream flat white everyone will invariably recommend, I don't love it either lol)
but hey, I'm sure you'll find stuff to do! have fun and safe travels!!!
@KissEmrys fair enough! I imagine you're going over to the east coast like everyone cool does so I can't give recommendations 😭
you could uhhh
enjoy some of the most pretentiously brewed coffee in the entire world? we're very well-known for that lol
@illegallyftm not to sound like i'm drawing a big line between trans and cis men (as I do believe trans men are men (aka yucky)) but in the context of upbringing I think it's fair to say that boyhood (and the behaviours it entrenches) is a pretty exclusive club that no queer gets invited into
“To create loving men, we must love males.” -bell hooks
There must be a path forward. Olive branches, reunification, connection, stability through conflict management and conflict resolution rather than conflict avoidance. Our gender problems are solvable, not insurmountable.
@illegallyftm it's just so infuriating how using the language of kindness to tell men that they do it to themselves and make it everyone's problem never fucking works, like the only way to get through is to speak the same language back (violence) that they use on everyone marked as lesser
get something bright orange and liquid based and learn how to use it, I like this stuff cause it feels like it stains the skin rather than sits on top of it so it never smudges off and layers well with concealer/bb cream
we have GOT to stop recommending nyx ink liners to early trans girls who dont even know how to colour correct facial hair shadow yet, like you just think eyeliner works cause people go "wow that man is wearing really obvious makeup, that's so brave, I should ask him his pronouns"
