After hearing about the new ban on certain acts in pornography I have a few thoughts and would like to know everyone else’s on whether this is a good thing or not. (As always please educate me, I am open minded)

As you all know I was subjected to horrendous abuse as a child against my consent. But as an adult I feel I have been able to take control back of my sexual desires and this has actually aided me in my own recovery.

The kink scene is huge, full of consenting adults and even though I am not directly involved with it, it seems to have always been a safe and welcome space. I have friends involved and they live for it.

The ban on these acts isn’t just about “saving people from being strangled”. To me it feels like government censorship and is also going to take away people who enjoy these things as a consenting adult.

I do not understand how in England we have men marrying their cousins and family members but from November they won’t be able to watch two adults pretending to have this relationship on a video. This seems like they are prioritising the wrong things for me?

I truly believe young people should be educated on consent (THIS IS IMPORTANT) and realise the impact of choking (and other) but banning something will make these people go down darker alleys to access them.

When I was younger and realised I liked certain sexual acts (we can argue this is due to my experiences, fine, I am not denying it) i felt more of an outcast, I was already a victim of awful awful things and now this to add on top. It made me feel like more of an outsider. Until I realised that BDSM was an actual thing and it can be done controlled and safely. It honestly brought back a light for me and maybe I can live with this? You know?

For now its wanting to ban a few things, but what will be next? It seems to me like it’s going to be other kink related content and this can be peoples lifeline.
