So often children are able to read, but when English is your second language, if not your third, often you don't understand what you are reading. Our literacy clubs ensure that girls like Faiza are not only able to read, but are able to comprehend.

During the rainy season, many children have to work in the farm with their parents. Our Literacy Leaders are so committed to assessing how their work is having an impact, they they will track them down to ensure they fill out their assessments.

Fuseina is working on writing with a student during an after school literacy club. So many of our students would not learn to read and write without the support of our literacy leaders, who were not so long ago struggling to learn themselves.

It is always a joy to see girls in upper primary (grades 4 - 6) who are on their way to junior high. Our Literacy Programs are having a profound effect on reducing girl drop out rates in communities where gender inequality in schools is a problem.

Our dedicated Literacy Leaders in Ghana track down each student by driving to their individual houses in their communities in order to complete assessments to properly monitor the outcome of the literacy programs they run. #CreateChange#Ghana#Africa#GirlPower#WomenLeadership
Many people in the region believe that girls do not have a place in school, and certainly have no business standing up to participate in class. Seeing girls like Rubaba stand confidently with her peers make us proud. #CreateChange#FemaleLeadership#Ghana#Africa#GirlPower
So proud of Fuseina. Once a girl living in poverty herself, concerned she might drop out of school, she is now a graduate, addressing entire communities about the importance of educating girls. We are so proud of the girls we empower to become leaders of change. #CreateChange
A team of superheroes. This is our Rural Community Development team, who carry out Create Change's field work to ensure communities slowly climb out of poverty.. Led by girls who come from poverty themselves, they are an incredible force of change. #CreateChange#WomenLeaders
Love to see how many girls are back in school after school was cancelled for almost a year in Ghana due to COVID-19. Create Change is hard at work to ensure we get every girl back to school that we possibly can.

People may tell you to only think positively, but when we simply try to ignore our fears they can actually grow. Usually when we consider the very worst outcome, we realize that nothing all that terrible is at risk of happening, and the fear dissipates. #CreateChange#Leadership
While we were not able to hold group Leadership sessions throughout 2020, we were able to continue our leadership curriculum in a distant learning format. We continue to encourage girls to rely on one another for peer support. #CreateChange#Leadership#YouthLeadership
If you want a highly effective team that is able to achieve its plans quickly and efficiently, make sure you are not just assigning your team members tasks, but actually the responsibility of leading work themselves. #CreateChange#Leadership#YouthLeadership#GenderEquality
If we want to succeed in life, we can't just put time into the areas that we are confident in, and avoid the areas where we feel less good about ourselves. If you want to be successful, don't be afraid to tackle the areas where you need to grow the most. #CreateChange
We look forward to getting back to our large leadership clubs where girls would come together, to share their dreams, to encourage one another, and to build a community of young women struggling with poverty who are determined to change the situation for people around them.
Charity assesses her students at the end of term, to see how far their reading has progressed. Once struggling with poverty herself, with the support of Create Change, Charity has been able to impact hundreds of children and has dreams to continue doing so throughout her career.
