Ryan spoke with Tim about recent false reports claiming thousands of Kurdish fighters had entered Iran and begun a ground invasion—stories that appeared to originate from Israeli sources and were quickly echoed by multiple western outlets.

He also discussed Washington’s long history of betraying Kurdish allies, from encouraging the 1991 uprising against Saddam Hussein to abandoning Kurdish partners in Syria recently.

Ryan said many Kurdish leaders today are wary of U.S. encouragement to enter another war after decades of broken promises.
