@askaya In past, Cold War & life behind the Iron Curtain didn't play well. Today, crushing of dissent & independent media, imprisonment (& killings) of political opponents to keep Putin in perpetual power, Chechnya, Georgia, Crimea, atrocities in Syria & Africa, & Ukraine play badly too.

@RussianEmbassy @SkyNews I certainly hope @RussianEmbassy is correct. Putin's attempted invasion of Ukraine has been a debacle - causing 100,000s of deaths. Putin's campaigns of extra territorial mass murder need to be strategically defeated, otherwise he will simply go on to author more mass tragedies.

@mfa_russia That's just the point #Zakharova: Unlike Russia, with its state controlled media & crushing of public dissension from the Putin line, the West doesn't have a "grip on the media"; it has independent media, meaning that westerners have always had access to diverse news source.

At the start of the chain of causation of all these tragedies is one man: 26yrs in power Putin. And such tragedies will continue so long as he continues to prosecute his pointless war.
