One big lesson we learned in Houston ISD was that educational leaders try to do too many things at once. The district literally had over 50 reading programs and every initiative known to mankind. This initiative fatigue and lack of focus were our biggest impediments to progress.

For example, most students notice when their teachers are passionate about teaching. And it usually affects their attitude towards their learning.

COVID changes some things... but not everything.
