and definitely been inspired by the organic shapes in textile work like this where it seems like the holes form naturally over time. I’ll be using gathered clothes from a family member to mend these areas which adds to the theme of healing through grief after losing a loved one.

something new im working on, testing out a couple things before i make any decisions. I’m definitely struggling to combine patterns and textures without being visually overwhelming but I’ll get there!

process: adding the lace trim was always the plan, but other than that everything else was up in the air. tried my hand at some basic sashiko but the colors I chose and the pattern looked too rigid for this piece. I’ve been in love with the idea of visible mending for a while +
