Kanga was a terrific chairman of the MRC. He clearly loves the game and understands it better than most. AND what is also true, is that many administrators, like Kanga was, say all the right things lamenting how the game has changed, but they do nothing to address the fundamental issue that has destroyed the very heart and soul of the industry. And that is the rampant taxation on punters. Kanga is right when he says racing was about all the characters and the stories, but very many of those revolved around the battle between punter and bookie. Nobody cared two hoots what the level of prizemoney was, nor how many million dollar yearlings there were this year at the Inglis sale. Both of these metrics have been driven ENTIRELY on the back of punters. An incredible redistribution of wealth from the average person to the often already hugely wealthy. The whole paradigm is almost universally misunderstood by the average race follower, who rails against the corporates for their business decisions, but who are virtually wholly unaware that the government and racing bodies receive 80% of profits and have raised fees and taxes to such an extent, that there are very few who are actually involved in a “battle against the bookie.” Mostly they are just being raped slowly. PVL was the master mind of this plan, but all other administrators have embraced the general outlines. People may look depressed at the races, because the inherent enjoyment of actually trying to win at the game has been expunged and nobody seems to have any interest in addressing this reality.
Apprentice’s debut on track.
Copped a RIR bias for the ages and a sick beat on benevac & he thought he was home on snack bar. Character building debut. Most impressively, chose to sit out 4 of 10 races.
Luckily dad won or the car trip home could have been dicey.
Spend the day with me @ Caulfield Races (June 27th) - GRWM, chit chat, rants, roughies, lays & of course, horses!!!

@J_Walter23 The bewildering thing is the rides. Get TC back now. I know jockey & connections ability varies , but Anna on casual connection had 15L of clear air to play with and still sat off the fence. Sienna gets off fence barrier 1 golden century. Astonishing shit.
Joints like @pizzahut routinely saying your order has been delivered , long before they deliver it, one of the better rorts going around. Alls well that looks well
@BennyScarf Surely the content of interacting with a human/humans helps your content, and with a little momentum attracting a possible crowd to roar them home on track, would add to content.
