The HKU Belchers U11s finished the first half of their season unbeaten and on top of Pool 2 in the CHK U11 League!
They will be moving up to Pool 1 for the 2nd half of the season, where they will be playing hardball cricket for the first time!
Congratulations 🎉🥳
We started well in perfect conditions at Kam Tin, Ramesh (73) and Krishna putting on 86 for the first wicket - a perfect foundation from which to launch a big score on a tiny ground. Well... some good, straight bowling ran through the upper middle, middle middle, …
Finally Autumn arrived and we fielded first in gorgeous sunshine. Lancers started well but we pegged them back with regular wickets. The spin trio of Tiran, Nitesh and Ashwin slowly suffocated the scoring, returning a combined 14.2-2-50-6 - it helps when we take our catches.
Chasing 130, we bumped an injured Haroon up the order so he could have a hit and leave early - this didn't work as he and Ramesh put on 106 for the first wicket, scoring his maiden fifty. Fittingly, he hit the winning runs in the 22 over.
We are delighted to announce our newest addition- the HKU Belchers CC Challenge League team, a team compromised of all the parents of our U11 Junior team.
Last weekend they have won their first ever Challenge game. Here’s to many more wins for both our U11s team and the dads!
This was our first game against the newly promoted DLSW Leaders and thank goodness we won the toss in oppressive heat - (Ed. - why doesn't the captain get MVP points for this??). Steady batting against tight bowling took us to 200-6, Ashwin (54*) and Ramesh (39)…
A good start to the season for us with two wins from two - can we keep winning the toss??
Man of the Match: Haroon

leading the runs. The bowlers were superb once again, with Haroon(4-24) and Tiran (3-18) leading way, backed up by reliable catching (extremely rare for us). Leaders were dismissed for 139 as we won nicely.
Thank goodness we won the toss. This was our hottest game at GDB and Ashwin (75* after a brief sunstroke break) and Priyanga (52 off 31) ensured we didn't waste the gift of batting first, taking us to 238-8 off our 35. This was the strongest Hung See line-up we had..
encountered, so we had to bowl well. Everyone did, but Priyanga stood out with his 6-1-16-2, with those two being big fish. We won by 117 runs - a good start to the season, but it could have been very different if the captain wasn't such a good tosser.
