✡️How Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag’s Friendship Fell Apart

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag were once close friends, but a 2018 confrontation over Manoj Prabhakar changed their relationship forever.

The DDCA, then headed by Rajat Sharma, had formed a cricket committee to oversee Delhi cricket and appoint coaches and selectors. Sehwag, Aakash Chopra and Rahul Sanghvi were committee members, while Gambhir, then an active player, was a special invitee.

The trouble began during Prabhakar’s phone interview for Delhi’s bowling coach position. Gambhir questioned him about the match-fixing allegations. Sehwag reportedly tried to intervene, but the argument escalated, and the two had to be separated.

Sehwag wanted the committee to formally record his objection, claiming Gambhir was using the interview to settle personal scores with Prabhakar. The controversy deepened tensions within the committee, whose members eventually resigned.Gambhir, meanwhile, took to Twitter to reiterate his zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, amid claims that his opposition to Prabhakar’s appointment had contributed to the resignations.

The incident marked the end of Gambhir and Sehwag’s friendship. The two stopped talking, and their relationship never recovered.
