I was hoping this sad story would end and we could all move on from Walter Mitty. But no.
So allow me to give my opinion.

He was a mentally ill liar who got opportunities because he was black and a bit retarded.
When challenged he killed himself. This was the act of a coward. He had a young family and he abandoned them. Coward.

Jason Arday is the modern British man. Weak. Pathetic. Living in a make believe world. Over feminised. And spending all his time in a career which is worthless and offers nothing of value.

He should not be praised. He should not be vilified. He should be pitied and used as an example of what men should never do or become.

The only victims of this sad story are his children. And regardless of how little he thought of them, they deserved better.

The lesson of this story is make sure you are better than Jason. Do not fall into the same mistakes and crumble under the pressure. For if you do, you were never a man of real value. Only the resemblance of one.

I am bewildered, and not very impressed, by the visceral, naked, irrational hatred spat out by some defenders of Jason Arday. If a Cambridge professor is accused of being an unqualified charlatan, the accusation might be racially motivated. On the other hand it might not, depending on the evidence. The correct question to ask is not, ”What is the colour of his skin” but “Is it in fact true that he is an unqualified charlatan?” Please examine the evidence before leaping to the assumption of racism.
As for the idea that journalists “piled in on him” and “hounded him to his death”, most attacks were against Cambridge University. Jason himself was widely regarded as an unfortunate victim of foolish promotion way beyond his ability to cope. In appointing him to a professorship for which he was manifestly unqualified – in ludicrously describing him as “the best in the world” – certain senior members of the university showed a level of patronising condescension towards black people that could fairly be described as racism, while at the same time making him tragically vulnerable to such attacks as came his way.

🚨 THIS IS EXACTLY WHY SO MANY OF US ARE SICK OF IT.

Two young British girls on a night out, visibly scared.

A bloke notices something isn’t right, walks over and starts asking if they’re okay. He checks whether the men hanging around them are actually WITH them.

The girls say NO.

One of the men is stood outside the club in jogging bottoms. The girls look terrified.

So this stranger refuses to just walk past and mind his own business. He stays with them and tells the men straight:

STOP HARASSING GIRLS.

And afterwards? The girls THANK him for stepping in.

This is what women and girls are dealing with.

A night out. Walking to a mate’s. Going to the shops. Getting home at night. Constantly looking over your shoulder and wondering whether that bloke following you is going to leave you alone.

And apparently we’re supposed to pretend nobody can see what’s happening?

We’re not “imagining” it.

WE’RE LIVING IT.

When are people going to stop pretending everything is fine?

Massive credit to the man who saw two frightened young women and actually DID something instead of walking away. 👏🇬🇧

Thai Immigration Cited a Money Rule to Expel a 12-Year-Old French Girl Flying Home From Cambodia

A French man living on Koh Rong says Thai immigration refused him and his 12-year-old daughter entry at Bangkok on Friday, and that she missed her flight home to France. She had flown out from Paris alone as an unaccompanied minor to visit him, and the two flew Phnom Penh to Bangkok together so she could make the connection back.

The expulsion notice he posted cites Section 12(2) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, the provision covering foreigners without appropriate means of living. Nothing on the form mentions Cambodia, her age, or travel documents. He says the only reason officers gave, three separate times, was "If you love Cambodia, then you should stay there." Six hours inside immigration offices, then a flight back to Cambodia at their own expense.

Section 12(2) is the subsection most refusals get written under, whatever the officer's actual reason. The notice gave him 48 hours to appeal to the Minister of Interior or the Immigration Commission.

Thai immigration refused two minors flying alone at Suvarnabhumi in June over missing parental consent. That reason isn't on this form. In a follow-up comment he wrote that he isn't the first person this has happened to.
