@Jmagnuson97@ehenes Fair question! Not everyone in the 1500’s had the duty to go to a RCC and get excommunicated personally. The theology of the reformation was formally excommunicated with Hus and later ex surgei dominei so all who held to it were excommunicated with it.
@ehenes You've had 90 years to plant a church in my town and haven't. The Bible Church confederation of churches has grown many times over, resulting in christians in my town becoming more and more anabaptist. Knox would be appalled if that was happening in his country.
@ehenes These faithful anabaptists trusted the Lord and had a heart for their city. They didn't stay insular but never ceased to evangelize every day of the week and be a force for good in their communities and the Lord has clearly rewarded them for it.
@ehenes In just 30 years, the Bible church in my town has grown and planted in the town many times. Now thousands upon thousands of faithful americans have radical anabaptist theology rather than reformed theology.
@ehenes and Macarthur did his part for American Christianity by planting churches in my city of 300k. The OPC has not.
My eyes are not just on the PCUSA. My eyes are on the Church in America. My desire is for all Americans to hear the gospel and the OPC has done little compared to them
@ehenes Alive and well meaning less than 1% of Americans are in NAPARC. For Americans, that is not 'well'. That's a shame that so few Americans are remaining in its reformed heritage and are instead becoming Baptists and millenarians. Two theologies that the reformers despised.
@ehenes American Presbyterianism dying is very bothersome to me. I don't want it to die, yet it is! Perhaps the sin of schism (just as bad as heresy to Nevin and Chrysostom) is also to blame for this possible judgement that is evident in my last 3 residences.
@ehenes I'll keep narrowing it down then, out of all the institutions, is there one that confesses the highest % of doctrine? (WCF, no women reading scripture during the Liturgy, no instruments, etc)
@ehenes And like I've said sure. I think it also stands as a warning for the reformed in general as well when it comes to dealing with liberalism. It's been replaced with millenarian and baptistic theology instead of a continuing reformed church.
