The rapid progress of chip industry in China mainland is closely related to the contributions of some Taiwanese. They come to mainland to start businesses or work for mainland companies, not even for money.

Zhang Rujin: the founder of SMIC, laid the foundation for the chip industry of mainland and still worked hard today in his 70's.

Liang Mengsong: the inventor of SMIC's N+2 process. His technology is very likely the reason for Huawei 5g chips to make breakthrough. However, he donated his salary to a fund to educate more chip talents in mainland.

There are many many other Taiwanese and oversea Chinese to make the same choice. Why do these people help China Mainland to get stronger? Aren't they worried that one day PLA will attack Taiwan?

The reason is simple, because they are Taiwanese and but also Chinese. They are helping their country.
