People keep saying we’re in Idiocracy but President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho at his core wanted what was best for his people and when evidence presented itself he listened to experts to solve the problem. By all accounts a better leader than this.
Burger King did this like 20 years ago with a guy in a chicken costume to promote a new sandwich. Hundreds of 5ish second clips of random rude actions it would play based off keywords it pulled out of what you typed. Called something like “disobedient chicken.”
I have no respect for anyone who’s angry about this. This is exactly what taxes should be spent on. Not subsidizing corporations and giving bombs to Israel.
If someone wins on Price Is Right by bidding $1 higher, the person they screwed over should get to physically fight them to decide who actually moves on.
This cost them about $1 trillion.
The truth is, you cannot build systems like this exclusively on the logic of profit. You cannot expect to break even in 20 or 30 years. Projects of this scale are built because the government decides they must exist to serve the people.
And this is a problem with systems that are strictly, or overwhelmingly, capitalist. If you leave every problem in your society to the spontaneity of the market, some challenges are so large and so unprofitable that you will never have sufficient incentive to solve them.
I had to get a crown a few years ago to hold together a cracked molar and stuff would get stuck like this under the bottom edge of it. Flossing just made it worse by pushing it down further. I had to do something similar. It hurt like hell whenever something got stuck like this.
This ad spot accidentally captured the essence of how i see the conservative/Repub culture: just act all terrified of everything around you so they won't notice you're the predator.
I think I just had one of my first moments of seeing Idiocracy becoming true. I just got an ad on YouTube for grass seed that was narrated by an AI voice with lines like, "This high-end shit grows fast as hell."
