BELA PADILLA SLAMS PANGASINAN LAWMAKER OVER FLOOD COMMENTS
Actress Bela Padilla criticized Pangasinan 2nd District Rep. Mark Cojuangco on Monday, November 10, following his controversial remarks on the deadly floods that struck Cebu and other parts of the country due to Typhoon Tino.
Padilla wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Respectfully, you don't start giving swimming lessons to a drowning man, sir. You save him first. Why didn't the LGUs stop them from building there in the first place? Common folk don't know where they can or can't build. I mean—look at Slater Young."
Cojuangco drew criticism after replying to a netizen's TikTok video of flood victims posted on Saturday, November 8: "PANGARAP KO LANG TALAGA IS MAMATAY NA LAHAT NG CORRUPT SA PILIPINAS! 😭"
The lawmaker responded on Sunday, November 9: "Bakit kasi sa flood plain gumawa ng tirahan? 🤦♀️ Takaw sakuna."
Netizens condemned his statement, citing insensitivity amid the human suffering caused by the floods.
