And in other news… PM @MarkJCarney’s exhortations to Albertans to “vote no to the nine” appear to have had mixed results. @ABDanielleSmith urged Albertans to say yes to all nine.
Mid-stream in the counting, questions 1-5 on pressing for more control over immigration are passing, 6-9 are teetering or being rejected.
Here are the questions:
•Question 1: Should Alberta have greater control over its immigration levels to decrease overall numbers and prioritize economic migration and employment? Yes.
•Question 2: Should provincially funded programs and services be restricted to citizens, permanent residents, or those with Alberta-approved temporary status? Yes.
•Question 3: Should temporary residents be required to live in Alberta for at least 12 consecutive months before qualifying for social support benefits? Yes.
•Question 4: Should non-permanent status holders be charged specific premiums or fees when utilizing public health care and education systems? Yes.
•Question 5: Should voters be required to provide physical proof of Canadian citizenship in order to cast a ballot in Alberta provincial elections? Yes.
The following are teetering or Albertans voting no in early results.
•Question 6: Should provinces be given the authority to directly choose their own provincial court judges? No.
•Question 7: Should the Senate of Canada be entirely abolished? Teetering.
•Question 8: Should provinces be permitted to opt out of federal programs while still retaining the corresponding federal cash funding? No.
•Question 9: Should provincial laws be given absolute priority in cases where they conflict with federal laws in areas of shared or disputed jurisdiction? No.

We’re seeing a big split between rural and urban voters on separation. 88% and 89% of Calgary and Edmonton voters want to stay in Canada while 66% of rural voters (outside the 2 largest cities) want Alberta to vote on separation. With 1 million out of 2 million votes cast. #ableg #abooli #cdnpoli #vote
With a million votes counted, Grande Prairie and Peace River are polling the highest in Alberta in favor of a referendum on separation. About 2 million votes have been cast out of 2.9 million eligible voters. #ableg#abooli
Election watch: People are still lined up to vote in Levern, AB., on the Kainai Nation / Blood Tribe near Lethbridge. It is 10:40. Everyone in line at 10:10 when the poll closed, will be allowed to vote according to @ElectionsAB on @GlobalCalgary. Grab another coffee.
I appreciate your sentiments and passionate defence of Alberta. We ARE getting a raw deal from Canada (tho actually managing to thrive despite one arm tied behind our back). I just disagree on how we get to a better place. Through your own argument, we are doing better than all other provinces in Canada, economically. So it’s kind of working. We need to keep the pressure on. (And how much does the average Albertan know about Quebec, or New Brunswick, btw?) 🇨🇦 #ableg #abooli #cdnpoli
I was a guest on a French CBC talk show just a few minutes ago.
I got my message across, but listening to the 3 "experts" from Quebec tell viewers how Albert can't succeed without Canada was almost more than I could stomach.
The Laurentian elite are really threatened by us, and they will do anything to get us to fail.
Alberta independence is the only path forward.
Yesterday i got the news that my big brother; pte Hayden Lykkemark has passed away in the tragic wainwright tragedy at the military base. he was the best brother i could've ever been blessed with, he will forever be a hero who stood up for Canada, Rest easy big bro, god bless.
