It feels like Earth was designed perfectly for us, rain falling from the sky, food growing from the ground, yet somehow we’ve built a world where people need good credit scores, multiple jobs, and 40-hour workweeks just to survive
And that’s the part older generations don’t always understand. Back then, raw talent could still open doors early. Now it feels like young people are expected to have 5 years experience, connections, perfect timing, and luck before even getting a real chance.
A 24 year old creating The Powerpuff Girls sounds impossible today because the system now values credentials over creativity way too often.
The basic argument here is that young people should accept worse lives. You can dress it up by putting avocado toast and student loans in the same category, but it's still a hell of a thing to say about your kids.
@hell_line0@ljmontello The billionaire wet dream is to never pay wages. This is the first tech that has demonstrated that possibility and they’re moving heaven and earth to materialize it. Everyone should worry about what that means for the rest of us..
every capitalist is like “any change in the system could possibly lead me to make less money. this is the most important thing in the world. more important than the environment or children or the elderly or the homeless. it’s all about me. this is a very normal outlook to have!”
The human body evolved over hundreds of thousands of years so you could sit at a desk in a cubicle, stare at artificial light, and pretend you do not want to kill yourself, and if you cannot focus on that for 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, they call it a mental disorder.
What depresses me is how preventable this all was. We could have a world abounding in whales & birds. We could have a thriving artistic & cultural life. We could have kids who know how to read a sentence. But those who rule us are greedy, and don’t want you to know anything.
Males developed as the secondary sex to support the primary sex (like drones in a beehive) and are naturally submissive. They thrive when given an assignment & told what to do. Matriarchy is the norm throughout nature, and patriarchy can only lead to the destruction of humankind.
Rosie O’Donnell: “It should be embarrassing to be a billionaire. It should be embarrassing to have the ability to help society and choose not to. How much can you have?”
it’s so wild how they just keep raising apartment rent every year so people move out to a cheaper one and then that one raises so they move out to a cheaper one and we did that for 7 years and now there are no cheap ones and more and more people are just homeless now :-)
bruce springsteen’s still got it. i don’t think he’ll ever lose it. few people are on his level. few have completely dedicated their life to proving their belief that music is the most powerful force in the universe
when the trees are gone & the water is no longer clean & our natural resources are depleted & they’re trying to sell us bottled air like the fucking lorax, when nature becomes a luxury & the bees disappear and the food supply dwindles, at least you owned the libs, am I right?!
This is the saddest era in human history. We have everything one could want — electricity, running water, heat and air conditioning, homes, roads, schools, parks. Yet the ruling class and the bougiecrats are engaged in a humanicide because they always want MOAR for themselves.
Buying things isn’t fun anymore. Everything is either too expensive, poor quality, a subscription where you don’t actually own anything, benefits an evil corporation, or all of the above.
It’s kind of insane that we’re all lucky enough to live on this insignificant blue ball floating in an endless void that can somehow keep us alive indefinitely and yet a huge chunk of people want to ruin it forever in the name of an economic concept that we made up ourselves
