Twitter's sending me emails saying, "Don't be selfish, share more tweets." Who decided emotionally manipulating users through a guilt tripping drip campaign was a good idea? (I'm tweeting though, so it worked. I'm afraid of being thought selfish.)
If the writers of the Charles in Charge theme song knew that, 30 yrs after I heard it, it would be stuck in my head on a Tuesday morning, would they have written slightly more sophisticated lyrics? Or been proud of its stickiness? π€
Gloomsday is a holiday I made up to do things I normally avoid. It helps me get rid of what other people call "mental clutter" and I call "oppressive contributors to the crushing anxiety of everyday life." Here's your Gloomsday how-to manual: https://t.co/RE62qumd0i
I've been forgetting to promote stuff on here, and isn't the whole point of social media to be self promotional? What am I even doing? Writing for the sake of writing? Dumb.
Marathon podcast recording day well underway: 2 down, 4 to go. I left my coffee outside the podcast room for the last session and I covered it up by asking belligerent questions and putting my grumpiness to good use.
Looked at my calendar for tomorrow and realized I had the bright idea to batch record with FIVE different podcast guests in one day. You know when you wake up in the morning and regret the texts you sent last night? This is the scheduling version of that.
You know in Madame Secretary when she has to meet separately with four different groups of cranky diplomats to work out a compromise that will prevent global calamity? That's what it feels like trying to plan a day for three of my coworkers to get together for lunch.
I've just spent 10 minutes trying to decide what to work on in the 20 minutes before my first meeting, so now I only have 10 minutes left and have to go through that whole process again, only with shorter tasks. Pretty sure this will end well.
Someone left a half-eaten graham cracker in my office two weeks ago, and I get low-level annoyed every time I look at it, but I've never cleaned it up because I can only see it when I'm already sitting down. I feel like this is a metaphor for most problems in my life.
One of the hidden benefits to watching business accounting videos as a woman is that you're never tempted to buy anything from the ads because they're 100% geared for men. And not buying stuff is great for your bottom line! I didn't even need a video for that tip.
I somehow have two whole hours free this morning with no scheduled meetings. Seriously considering hiding in a closet with my laptop to preserve this rare and precious gift.
1. Got up early to spend some time writing. 2. Immediately felt it was super important to check Twitter for the first time in like a year. Whenever I want to tackle the dregs of my to-do list, I need to remember make a writing deadline.
