He’s a great young man. Bumila has had to deal with so much this year, from scouts to media to jeers from opposing teams and fans.
He has conducted and carried himself so well through it all. And he always makes time for the kids who look up to him.
A very bright future awaits.
@monkeythycircus@Bobhickox14@T_Mulherin What don’t you understand? If he felt any soreness or tweaked anything.. you pull him. A state title is cool, but that kid has way more important things to worry about in his future. They rode him all season long.
The start tonight might not have been what many expected from Bishop Feehan superstar Brody Bumila, but it’s certainly understandable given the immediate turnaround from an all-time showing in the basketball state tournament to a daily grind of exceeding expectations on the diamond, and performing in front of MLB scouts and a whirlwind of media folks.
HC Joe Breen’s full quote tonight on pulling Bumila after 2 IP when he didn’t have his best stuff:
“What (Bumila) has done athletically over the last five months, and what he’s been through mentally, he’s pretty exhausted and has been for a few weeks. But he just keeps competing for his team and that’s just not fair for us to expect — or for anybody, quite frankly — to expect an 18-year-old to just keep doing it over and over and over again. I mean the kid’s been exhausted for a couple weeks but he just keeps fighting through and finding ways to compete for his team. We knew weren’t going to have him for a full game today, but if I didn’t start Brody Bumila in the state championship game, then I shouldn’t be here next year. It’s one of those situations where as his coach and someone who cares about him immensely, there’s no way I could leave him hanging today. To just keep throwing him back out there, it would be an awful thing to do to that kid and there was no way I was going to do that to him. He’s been battling for us for a long time. He sure did (have a great career at Bishop Feehan), the best one ever.”
Bishop Feehan has now reached the D2 Football Championship, D1 Boys Basketball Championship and now the D1 Baseball Championship in the same academic year.
This doesn’t include excellent runs from several other sports at the Attleboro school.
State final schedule likely won’t be out until tomorrow, but hard to imagine D1 baseball won’t get the primetime Saturday slot with MLB Draft prospect Brody Bumila expected on the mound.
According to the MIAA website, Bishop Feehan’s last state title came in 1994 (in D2). Catholic Memorial’s last title came in 1973.
A drought is snapped no matter what.
@dhatguy_david@_clockthattea@TorreySmithWR So even though charges were dropped and they realized IN court that chef was lying and they tossed it out there’s still ignorant people like you out there. Innocent until proven guilty is nothing huh? Even when in court he was proven innocent lol
@Realrclark25 Will you just shut the fuck up for once? How about you give a long winded speech about half the men in that league abusing women ? No? Don’t want to talk about that huh? Got guys in the league beating women left and right and you clowns are crying over who a man voted for.
Grown men should have a better message than this. Y’all sound like the women on The View.
Grown, established men shouldn’t be this invested in another man’s political views.
@icecolddietcoke@ahcoffin@stcotts@985TheSportsHub@ZoandBertrand Yeh in what sport?! I see public schools competing all the time. Iv never seen Cambridge there lol. And if that were true, the last ten years the champs of D1 and D2 would be all private schools and that isn’t the case. So don’t tell me public schools can’t compete. Get better.
@ahcoffin@stcotts@985TheSportsHub@ZoandBertrand It is not an elite boarding school, you’re comparing St. John’s prep to schools such as Nobles, BB&N, Brooks, st Sebastian’s, tabor.. is crazy
@Drunk_Schefter@985TheSportsHub@ZoandBertrand It’s not CMs problem or fault, they play d1 competition during the season which they choose. only d2 in playoffs due to MIAA rules based on enrollment. The beef should be with MIAA not CM. KP has more than twice the enrollment.
@ahcoffin@stcotts@985TheSportsHub@ZoandBertrand Shows how much you know. ISL is for prep schools none of the schools you mentioned are which. Sick of shitty towns complaining their teams can’t compete. Many public high schools can and do.
This is rich coming from her. Here's a personal story of the irony here: 2007, CH does The Tonight show w Jay Leno. She makes fun of Angelina Jolie & her newly adopted son, 3 yr old Pax, who is Asian.
CH: “He probably doesn’t even realize he’s Asian yet! He certainly doesn’t know he’s going to be a horrible driver… or that he’s going to be amazing at doing nails!”
The next few days there was plenty of outrage, disappointment & accusations of racism levied against NBC.
2 weeks later, I'm booked on The Tonight Show & I've already had my set approved. I was told, I can't tell any of my jokes because of the blowback of her hacky, racist jokes. Yes, I couldn't tell jokes about being Asian because she did so much damage making fun of Asians.
Then, weeks later of 2007, I performed at a showcase where CH was present. Prior to, I had never spoken to, met or interacted with her & as I was wrapping up my set, I mentioned her in the crowd? It's odd to see a comedian sitting in a showcase watching w audience, so I mentioned it in passing. She then yelled out "you're doing a great little Asian job".
MY POINT: I personally know Shane & Tony aren't racist. In fact, I don't think Chelsea is racist. Sure, she's got a long history of promiscuity, an affinity for day drinking, publicly stated she's prescribed a healthy dose of anti depressants, rumored to be awful to work for or with, has a punch card to a plastic surgeon, accused of punching down in her comedy, never been married or had kids & lives alone in her 50s, had dinner with Jeffrey Epstein but c'mon gang, she's not racist.
