Start your crop year with a plan. 🌱 A crop plan is more than a product list—it’s your roadmap for the season. It helps match every acre, adapt with confidence, protect your bottom line, and align advice with logistics.

Back in September, Tateum was out scouting corn and found it sitting at about the ¼ milk line. 🌽
The milk line is that visible layer inside the kernel where the soft, milky part transitions into firm starch. For silage, the sweet spot is usually around the ½ to ⅔ milk line—enough starch for good energy while keeping the plant moist enough to pack and ferment well.
Got questions about your own corn, or curious about the trials we’ve been running? Reach out to your local CMN.
Not sure what fertility plan makes sense for 2026? Cutting corners might feel tempting, but yield is still the biggest driver of your bottom line. Soil sampling protects both yield and margins — giving you the facts you need to make the smartest use of your fertilizer dollars.
Why it matters now:
✅ Know exactly what’s in your soil before you invest in fertilizer
✅ Build a fertility plan on facts — not assumptions
✅ Make confident decisions on crop rotation, product rates, and field priorities
✅ Use results to set clear fertility goals — keeping your farm on track, even when markets shift
Soil sampling isn’t just about checking a box. It’s about making sure your fertilizer dollars are working as hard as you are. The right data leads to better plans, stronger yields, and healthier margins year after year. And with CMN expertise, those results turn into a practical plan for your farm.

Stay ahead of blackleg – protect next year’s yield 🌱
Fall scouting right after harvest is the best time to check your fields for blackleg. Scouting now gives you a clear picture of disease pressure and whether your current variety is providing enough protection.
Our CMN team is here to help you:
✅ Walk fields and evaluate blackleg risk
✅ Share proven best practices for managing disease
✅ Recommend the right varieties for your area to protect yield potential
Connect with your local CMN location this fall for hands-on scouting and expert advice in selecting your variety for the next growing season.
We don’t believe there’s such a thing as a bad harvest photo 🌾
Thanks to everyone who’s been sharing theirs with us! Want us to see your photo? Remember to tag us!
Edberg was the very first CMN location, opening its doors back in 2007. Since then, this crew has been proud to grow alongside our customers and community.
From the first seed in spring to the last bushel off the field, the Edberg team is here to support growers every step of the way. Thank you to our customers for trusting us through another season — we’re proud to be part of your farm’s success. 💛
Gathering in the field gives us a chance to connect with our customers and share in the harvest season. 🌾
Harvest is when all the hard work comes together, and it means a lot for us to sit down with the crew, hear their stories, and see the crop come off firsthand.
A big thank you to our customers for welcoming us into the field and letting us be part of your harvest season.
Kochia is one of the toughest weeds in central Alberta. With Group-2 and glyphosate resistance spreading, it takes more than a spring spray to stay ahead. That’s why fall is the perfect time to hit kochia hard.
Why fall?
• Kochia produces up to 25,000 seeds/plant — many germinate right away the next season.
• Fall applications knock down late-emerging seedlings and set up a cleaner start in spring.
• Soil-active herbicides create a weed-free window at seeding, giving your crop the advantage.
Proven Tools:
• Valtera™ (Group 14) – strong pre-emergent residual on resistant kochia.
• Fierce® EZ (Group 14 + 15) – extends that control and adds suppression of grasses like wild oats.
The result? Lower weed pressure, preserved soil moisture and nutrients, and healthier crops that get out of the ground faster.
Talk to your local CMN team about how Fierce® EZ and Valtera™ can fit into your fall program and protect next year’s yields.
Check out DJ’s LibertyLink® canola trial at Botha, AB!
Thanks to Nattestad Farms for their participation in this trial. It’s always great to observe the differences between varieties in local fields and we look forward to seeing the yield results this harvest. Be sure to ask us after harvest how CROPLAN® varieties performed in your area.

Thank you to Lisa for providing a perfect example of what to watch for when scouting canola for sclerotinia.
The difference between a healthy pod and an infected one is clear once you know what to look for. Infected pods show shriveled, pre-maturely ripened seeds compared to the plump, healthy ones.
Our team can help you scout your fields to spot infections and make a plan for next year’s disease management. Reach out today!
