Happy Easter! I don’t talk about religion much. I was raised in a faith that reveres Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world but that most Christians don’t consider Christian. And while I grew up in a privileged bubble, becoming a young YouTuber quickly introduced me to all kinds of people from all over the world: people of every faith and no faith at all who still believed deeply in moral good, justice, and love. But it also sometimes introduced me to the ire and righteous indignation of other “Christians” who shared my belief in Christ but few of the values I was taught He embodied.

I was taught about the love and divinity of Jesus Christ, and I believe in that deeply. I was taught to model myself after Him, to repent and try again when I fall short. And boy, do I ever fall short. We all fall short. That’s the whole point.​ And among the greatest things we were asked to do was to love Him and to love each other.

“What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” — Micah 6:8

I believe in Jesus Christ. That belief makes me want to be better. This Easter, I hope to be a better example of His love. And if you don’t share my faith, I hope you know I think you’re doing just fine.
