The Sacred drums of #Burundi are always a spectacle! The hits. The Rythm and the drummers synchrony is always something to admire, but why aren't women allowed to beat the drums? #CultureGrows@ke_British@BBCAfrica#CrowMotion

We are concerned about the levels of Political violence in America. We urge the Americans to resolve their differences peacefully. We will be deploying observers to monitor the volatile situation. All Africans in America should keep in contact with their respective Embassies. We advise Africans to stop traveling to America during this period.
I have nominated Elijah Masinde Wanameme, founder of the Dini Ya Musambwa Sect for recognition as a National Hero.
During the struggle for Independence, Masinde was convinced that the white man deployed religion as a tool for manipulation of the black man, effectively using it to colonise the minds of the native population.
He therefore decided that true liberation could only come from complete freedom from colonialism, including religious freedom. He subsequently founded the Dini Ya Musambwa in 1948, to advocate for indigenous African worship devoid of the white manโs domination.
The sect became popular among the locals as it incorporated cultural and traditional customs in prayer, while also acting as a freedom struggle movement for the emancipation of the black man.
While engaging in anti-colonial activities, Masinde came into contact with white rulers a lot. Confrontations abounded. At one time, he had a physical fight with a colonial administrator for refusing to kneel before him.
Masinde was later arrested and detained several times, in different locations, including at Kapenguria. He became a thorn in the flesh of colonial administrators for preaching the liberation message in prison, forcing them to move him from location to location to arrest what they considered his indoctrination of prisoners.
He closely identified with Jomo Kenyattaโs struggles and encouraged Kenyatta to be radical, as that was the language the white man would understand. He also closely identified with Jaramogi Oginga Odingaโs philosophy of โfull independence can only mean political, economic, educational and religious independenceโ, harping on this to encourage native populations to form business thrift units so that when independence came, it would find a ready population.
Because of his radical message and insistence on both religious and economic freedom as part of the 1963 independence package, he was subsequently detained by the Kenyatta government after independence, spending time in jail until 1978, when he was released as part of Moiโs amnesty to political prisoners. This radicalism wouldnโt relent, forcing Moi to send him back to jail briefly.
He died in 1987 but his contribution remains largely unrecognized, an error Iโm hoping the National Heroes Council will finally correct.
I am and have been a lot of amazing things throughout my life but this year, I am all that plus, A MOTHER and for that I am most grateful.
Happy Birthday Mary Irungu, to higher heights!!
'Where The River Divides' - is a beautifully done film that just did it for me production-wise compared to some of the 'top' Kenyan films today. Check out @sinemafocuske Kelvin Kariuki's review of the film on their website & @mymoviesafrica to watch it

This evening Hon. Ababu Namwamba, Cabinet Secretary - Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports signed an MoU with Mr. Hu Heping, Minister for Culture and Tourism from People's Republic of China.
Papa wa Roma, ungekuja stadium ata siku moja ama hizo finals. This was a great opportunity for Mulembe nation leaders to unite in a show of support and while some did, you were noticeably missing! (Ama ni camera angle ilihata?)
However, you've spoken well.
Congratulations to St. Anthony's Boys High School -Kitale and Butere Girls High School for their remarkable feat in clinching this year's National Secondary Schools football titles and securing their well-deserved spots in the upcoming East African School games.
A special shoutout goes to Madira Girls High School from Vihiga for their outstanding achievement, claiming the bronze and also qualifying for the Regional Championships that will be held in Rwanda.
The resounding success showcased during the intensive week-long championship held in the heart of Kakamega town has unequivocally asserted the Mulembe nation's dominance in the football arena.
The electrifying atmosphere at Bukhungu Stadium, where an enthusiastic sea of fans congregated to witness the gripping finals for both boys and girls, is a living testament to the insatiable thirst for the beautiful game that unites us all.
Kudos to Koyonzo Boys for their triumphant defense of the rugby title, and hearty congratulations to Vihiga for clinching the silver, thus securing their rightful passage to the Regional competitions.
Kongole to all the victors across various sporting disciplines, for your exceptional prowess and unwavering dedication.
It is my sincere hope that the Kenya Football Federation (FKF) borrows a leaf from the impeccable organization of the championship demonstrated by the Kenya National Secondary Schools Sports Association throughout the competition.
The path to excellence lies in learning from the best.
It's high time we replicate this level of excellence within our Kenya Premier League as well.
Good show of support bwana Gavana. Constantly engaging the boys through calls and so on. Sasa tunangoja stadium. Let it be state of the Art for real.
Mulembe nation to the skies!
Congratulations to St. Anthonyโs Boys and Kesogon Girls for clinching the championship at the Secondary School Games.
A special shout-out to Wiyeta Girls for their impressive performance, securing a spot in the East Africa games as the second runner-up.
Our administration remains dedicated to fostering sports, evident in our allocation of funds to support county sports and the Construction of the state-of-the-art Kenyatta Stadium in Kitale. The 20,000-seat FIFA-standard stadium promises our athletes a modern and top-notch facility.
Kazi fiti waziri, however start considering 'vantage media stands' into the architecture of our stadiums and other public venues. As you may have noticed in Bukhungu, the views were obstructed with flags and other rails. @KBCChannel1 had the worst angle though.
The @moyasa_ke has proudly sponsored the school ball games alongside the music and drama festivals with KES 267 million. To ppreciate the incredible public support for this hotbed of talents, we air the finals today LIVE on @KBCChannel1 and our socials. #TalantaHela#AbabuNaKazi
There's power in advocatory arts. This is Turkana County, Kenya, where through theatre, a community was educated, empowered and change ignited towards better and healthier relationships to avert #SGBV. I love my work.
