Yesterday, the whole school visited Tehidy Woods to see Rogue Theatre's Winter Wood performance. We had a lovely time, with the children particularly enjoying the 'fire lady' and the delicious hot chocolate! Thank you to the PTA for helping fund this event for the children.

The children in Releath and Trenoweth have worked extremely hard to prepare the most fantastic nativity to share with the school, their families and the community. They had so many words and songs to learn and each child performed their part brilliantly.

This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from @ElmoreQuartet , who performed a range of music for the children and taught them about their instruments. The children were mesmerised by their performance! We felt very privileged to hear them.

Releath Class have been learning the story of The Gingerbread Man. Not only can they re-tell the story, but they can also use Makaton signs. To enhance their learning, children first designed their own gingerbread men, then made and decorated them. Luckily none ran away!!

Art club have completed their clay dragon eyes. They are all really proud of how they have turned out and all worked really hard on these!

Pengelly have been testing the properties of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, including: do they crumble (and with what materials lolly stick/sandpaper/nail), are they permeable, are they dense and do they have crystals?

As the days are getting darker and lots of our children walk to and from school, we were very appreciative of a visit from the police to help remind the children about the importance of road safety.

Last week, the children in Releath had a brilliant time learning about Bonfire Night, adding glitter to really light up the night sky! In maths, the children have been learning about circles and triangles. They explored printing with them and talked about the two shapes.

This week, the children from Crenver visited Kresen Kernow, exploring the vaults which house important documents about Cornwall. They found the Crowan School logbook which gave details about 42 evacuees joining the school, looked at ration books and studied first hand accounts.

This half term, we have focused on the value of aspirational. The children thought about long term goals and the career they aspire to. We had amazing ideas including astronauts, vets, doctors, palaeontologists, artists, footballers, engineers, gamers, superheroes and many more!

In Design Technology, the children in Trenoweth have been making Tudor houses based on their history topic of 'The Great Fire of London'. The children looked at pictures of Tudor houses and investigated strengthening techniques before designing their own Tudor house.

In Design Technology, the children in Pengelly have made Egyptian tombs all meeting two of the criteria of having a strong structure with door to enter and a king's chamber for the mummy; some also included hieroglyphics, stairs, Egyptian symbols and various treasures.

In maths, the children from Trenoweth have worked on creating numberlines and used numicon to find different ways of making 10.

As part of their science lessons, the children in Trenoweth have tasted a range of different fruits. Some of them were quite sour!

In construction club this week, the children were challenged to make a bridge that could hold a toy car. They were only given newspaper and masking tape and worked in teams to create their structures.

The children in Year 3 have enjoyed using place value cards to learn how to add and subtract hundreds. Lots of children recognised that when adding and subtracting hundreds, the tens and ones stay the same.

As part of their work on materials in science, the children in Crenver have been experimenting to discover which material is the best insulator.

In R.E. the pupils in Reception have been learning about why the word God is important to Christians. After learning that Christians believe God created the world and all of the special things in it, they made the word God special by decorating it in the most beautiful of ways.

The children in Releath have been learning the story of Rosie's Walk. They created their own stick puppets and used them to re-tell the story.
The children also love sharing knowledge from outside school. Here a child is creating his own pyramid, like the Ancient Egyptians!
