Separation, uncertainty, and longing for reunion these are some of the enduring costs of conflict. Rita's story is a reminder that behind every conflict are people striving to preserve family ties and dignity.
Rita’s voice carries the weight of a life lived between duty and fear.
She stayed in Tyre to care for others while sending her son to a safer place. Today, they live apart, holding on to the simple wish of reunion, safety, and walking again by the sea without the shadow of war.
A damaged ICU.
Injured medical staff.
Patients still arriving.
Despite severe damage following recent strikes, Jabal Amel Hospital continues operating under extreme pressure, turning chaos into care, and urgency into life-saving action.
This is why we stay too. Because Wafaa stayed. Because across southern Lebanon, civilians are living through what the world too often looks away from. Bearing witness is the first act of protection.
Under the sound of airstrikes and in empty streets, Wafaa chose to stay in her village in southern #Lebanon, holding on to memories, her land, and the people she once shared daily life with. As danger grew closer and friends were lost in the #conflict, life was reshaped by war.
Excellent discussions today with @DrPaulMorcos . The meeting addressed the ongoing coordination and cooperation between @MinistryInfoLB and @ICRC_lb, with a focus on the protection of journalists during armed conflict.
📍Tyre, southern Lebanon
A worsening humanitarian situation as intensified strikes force evacuations from densely populated areas. Families are displaced again, carrying exhaustion, loss, and uncertainty, while civilian infrastructure continues to bear the heaviest impact.
As hostilities continue in southern Lebanon, civilians remain trapped in a reality where their safety, stability, and the hope of returning home grows more fragile each day. The consequences of any further escalation can be devastating for them.
Proud to see NotATarget recognized among the world’s leading creative campaigns. In collaboration between with @TBWARAAD, @ICRC_lb won the D&AD Yellow Pencil in MENA. A powerful reminder that civilians are #NotATarget, https://t.co/INkZhCN3qi, https://t.co/NAf1XsDM3X
In times of #conflict, every breath matters.
The #ICRC delivered 78 oxygen concentrators to #hospitals in southern #Lebanon, helping medical teams sustain essential care, despite immense pressure on the healthcare system.
International humanitarian law is clear❗️

All are protected under the law of war.
📊 Responding to health needs:
As the escalation in #Lebanon continues, the #ICRC is supporting healthcare workers, hospitals & communities affected by conflict to help sustain access to essential care. These figures highlight activities carried out from 2 March to 16 April 2026.

On World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, we stand #UnitedForHumanity with the humanitarian workers who continue to help others despite growing risks.
Humanitarian workers are not a target.
They must be protected.
A mattress on a track. A curtain where a locker room door used to be. Khodor doesn't need a stadium, he needs a home. Displacement doesn't end when people find a roof. It ends when they find safety, dignity, and a place to truly belong. 🏚️➡️🏠
You may have visited a stadium, but can you imagine living in one?
Khodor fled his home overnight, searching for safety. Today, he lives in Beirut Sports City, which has now become a shelter.
Some places were not meant to become homes. For many, they’re all they have left.
📊 Water & Habitat in numbers:
Amid the escalation in #Lebanon, we work to keep essential services accessible. These figures show #ICRC support to water networks, pumping stations, shelters, & hospitals from 2 March to 16 April 2026, reaching host communities & displaced people.
In an instant, everything changes. Homes turn to rubble. Families become memories. Survivors carry grief long after the violence ends. Civilians are not targets, they must be protected.
Under fire, lives change in seconds. Families are torn apart, survivors are pulled from the rubble, carrying losses too heavy for words.
For many, the impact lingers long after the violence ends. Civilians must be protected from the effects of hostilities.
Health facilities must never stop saving lives. In conflict, supporting hospitals is about ensuring continuity of care for every patient who depends on them. Even in crisis, health must remain a lifeline.#HealthCare#Humanity#ContinuityOfCare#ICRC
In Debel, 1,700 people are living under the strain of hostilities, with limited access to essential services and care.
The ICRC is supporting with water, food, medicines, and healthcare, because reaching people in need, wherever they are, remains essential.
Water saves lives.
Behind every tap restored is a family regaining stability, health, and hope. Supporting access to clean water means standing with communities when they need it most.

After major damage to the #water network supplying several villages in southern #Lebanon, the #ICRC teams worked to restore the flow.
It’s more than fixing pipes, it brings relief, reduces health risks, and helps families survive daily hardship.
