On Saturday we teamed up with @southnorwoodkitchen and hosted our first ‘Community Conversations’ event. In the wake of the recent racist riots across the country, we thought it was important to create a space for discussing what had happened and coming together in our local area
We busted the common myths and misconceptions that are spread by the elites about migrants and refugees, and learned more about how border violence confronts us in our everyday life. We discussed and shared ideas on how we can band together in solidarity to resist.
We’re teaming up with @norwoodkitchen’s Saturday Kitchen for our first community conversation on narratives regarding migration, the media, migrant rights and solidarity, and plans for moving forward positively in Croydon after recent national far right riots.
Free lunch 4 all!
Police do not have the right or power to stop you for covering your face. If stopped ask ‘am I being detained?’ If not you can walk away.
We keep each other safe - not the police.

Some families in #TemporaryAccommodation are squeezed into one room living spaces with a small kitchenette and multiple beds to share with their growing children.
Some temporary accommodation has outdoor space, but families are not allowed to use it.
Imagine that in this heat!
The last two weeks have seen fascist mobs setting fire to refugee accommodation, attacking Muslims and Black & Brown people on the streets and far-right violence on a scale that hasn’t been seen for decades.
The police have effectively stood by and watched.
