Today a teacher of 25yrs reflected in a PLC that not matter how much he has learned or how much he has things sorted, there is always space to be curious, to be surprised, and to grow.
Teaching is a practice.
Teaching is aspirational.
There is immense joy in the journey.
You would think that teachers would get more respect in our culture, especially when everyone has a teacher or teachers who believed in them, pushed them to be their best, and made a lasting impact on their lives.
👋 Hi, I'm Katie Hobbs.
I'm Arizona's Secretary of State and I'm running for governor against the most extreme GOP candidate in the country.
Every poll shows this race NECK and NECK.
Can you retweet this and help me reach 130,000 followers?
One of my favorite things about school culture… is that everyone gets to contribute to it. It is not just a reflection of the administration or the leadership team; it is a reflection of everyone.
Teachers don't leave because it's hard. Teachers are some of the hardest working professionals I know. They leave because the expectations become more unrealistic every year.
I'm traveling to every corner of this state to learn from our communities what issues matter most to them because Arizonans deserve a governor who listens. I'm ready to be a reproductive & voting rights champion - will you RT to help me reach 100k followers and spread the word?
I think one of the most telling attributes of an effective leader is that they bring out the best in those they lead. Imagine what a staff can do when they feel valued, supported, and appreciated!
“I have a great belief in the fact that whenever there is chaos, it creates wonderful thinking. I consider chaos a gift” … it is in chaos that we get to exercise our love #septimaClark#HipHopEd
I was a teacher for (many) years before discovering I really wasn't teaching.
I was talking, assigning, grading.
And I thought I was teaching. Truly.
I wasn't. I didn't start teaching until I learned to respond to each kid's learning.
That is where/when I become a teacher.
Leaders, if you aren’t vested in staff morale, you aren’t vested in school culture.
* Empower teachers w/ voice/ input
* Trust them as professionals
* Treat everyone as individuals
* Respect their time
* Show them you care personal/professional
* Celebrate all successes
